Jabra Evolve 20 – Setup and Controls

Jabra Evolve 20 – Setup and Controls

Summary

The Jabra Evolve 20 Stereo is a wired USB headset designed for professional use. It features stereo audio, a noise-canceling microphone boom, and an inline controller on the cable that gives you quick access to call controls and volume without touching your computer. This guide covers setup, device configuration, controller button reference, and common troubleshooting steps.

ℹ️ Note: The Jabra Evolve 20 is a plug-and-play device — no drivers or software installation is required on most computers running Windows or macOS.

What’s in the Box

  • Jabra Evolve 20 Stereo headset

  • USB-C cable with adapter and inline controller

  • Quick start guide

Step 1: Connect the Headset

  1. Locate an available USB port on your computer or docking station.

  2. Plug the USB connector on the headset cable firmly into the port.

  3. Wait a few seconds — Windows or macOS will automatically detect the device and install it as an audio device.

  4. You should hear a short tone in the headset when it is ready.

💡 Tip: Your headset includes an adapter that allows the use of either USB-A or USB-C.

Step 2: Set the Headset as Your Default Audio Device

Windows

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray (bottom-right of taskbar).

  2. Click Sound settings.

  3. Under Output, select Jabra Evolve 20 from the dropdown.

  4. Under Input, select Jabra Evolve 20 from the dropdown.

macOS

  1. Click the Apple menu (top-left corner) and select System Settings.

  2. Click Sound.

  3. Under the Output tab, select Jabra Evolve 20.

  4. Under the Input tab, select Jabra Evolve 20.

💡 Tip: In Microsoft Teams, you can also set the headset as the audio device directly inside the app under Settings → Devices.

Step 3: Wear the Headset

  1. Place the headset over your head with the headband centered on top.

  2. Position both earcups over your ears. The ear cushions are designed for extended wear comfort.

  3. Adjust the headband by sliding each ear cup up or down for a secure, comfortable fit.

  4. Rotate the microphone boom — it can swing to either the left or right side. Position the microphone tip approximately 1–2 cm from the corner of your mouth.

ℹ️ Note: The microphone boom can also be rotated up (away from your face) to mute/park it when not in active use.

Step 4: Using the Inline Controller

The inline controller is located on the cable, roughly mid-chest level when wearing the headset. It has four controls:

Step 5: Adjusting the Microphone

  • Positioning: Bend the flexible microphone boom so the tip is near the corner of your mouth, not directly in front of it. This reduces breath noise.

  • Volume: Microphone input level can be adjusted in your computer’s sound settings or within your calling application.

  • Noise cancellation: The microphone has a built-in noise-canceling design. For best results, keep background noise low and speak at a normal conversational volume.

Troubleshooting

  1. Unplug the USB connector and plug it into a different USB port.

  2. Restart your computer and reconnect the headset.

  3. Check Sound settings to confirm the device appears in the input/output lists.
