This article explains the MacOS update process that users will see on their machines.

  • MacOS updates are set to run once per week. A window will pop up to alert the user that updates are needed and give the option to defer those updates for a limited time.

  • This is an example of the pop-up users will see.

  • Click Start now, then select your preference from the dropdown.

  • Click Submit.

  • Once started, updates will run in the background.

    • If a restart is needed you should get a notification to restart.

      • You will see reminders like this.

    • If you go into Settings you should see a notice that an update is needed.

  • Click on it to navigate to the Software Update screen and click Restart now if ready.

Please reach out to ITS at helpdesk@floridapoly.edu if any issues arise.
