Faculty view – Insight and Flex computer classrooms

Students have the ability to join their computer lab classes remotely utilizing virtual desktops. These virtual classrooms have been configured so that they run in parallel to the in-classroom experience. That way, instructors are able to utilize Faronics Insight to view both the desktops in the classroom and the virtual desktops logged into the virtual classroom.

Steps

  • Log in to the Podium PC in the classroom.

  • Launch video conferencing tool (e.g. Microsoft Teams, WebEx).

  • Launch Faronics Insight Teacher.

  • Open the task tray and left-click the Insight Console icon to bring up the console. If both remote and in-classroom students are in attendance, both desktop types will appear in the console.

  • Proceed with class as usual. Remember to log out of Insight before logging out of your session on the Podium PC.

Quick Tips

  • The instructor’s use of Insight for viewing remote students’ screens does require that the student logs in to a virtual desktop (i.e. vs. just the virtual app).

  • If an instructor forgets to log out of Insight before logging out of their session on the Podium PC, Insight will not load for the next instructor. The recommendation for that second instructor is to restart the computer.
