Understanding virtual desktop types
When launching a virtual desktop, there are a couple of options to choose from.
Name | Purpose |
Desktop - Graphics | This desktop is to be used by students during classes that require graphic intensive applications such as Ansys, Solidworks, LabVIEW, Multisim, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Maya. This desktop may not be visible to all students. There are a limited number of desktops available, please limit use of these desktops to only during your scheduled class times or during times where no classes should be held to provide adequate resources to your fellow classmates. |
Desktop - Standard | This desktop is to be used by students during classes that do not require graphic intensive applications. |
Desktop - Homework | These are spare desktops in the labs that are not being utilized due to social distancing. These desktops can be used at any time and are not monitored by the professors during class times and are not to be used during flex classes for this reason. Outside of class, students also have the option to launch specific virtual applications individually instead of the entire virtual desktop. To learn more, see Florida Poly Virtual Applications .
