Teams Dial-In Conferencing and Meeting Security

As of June 8, 2022, Teams has been configured to automatically include dial-in information for participants who need to join the meeting via a phone call. The dial-in information appears at the bottom of the message:

To help maintain secure meetings, some changes have also been made in the default meeting options which determine who is allowed to automatically join a meeting.

There are 2 key points to be aware of with this change.

1. Conferencing PIN

When this feature was enabled, you should have received your audio conferencing PIN. If you need to reset your PIN, you may click the Reset PIN link in the meeting invitation, as shown in the above screenshot.

The conferencing PIN will be required if you are dialing in and need to join the meeting as a leader.

2. Meeting Lobby

When joining a meeting, any authenticated user who is signed in with a Florida Poly NetID or a guest account will bypass the lobby.

Unauthenticated (i.e. external guests) users who join the meeting will be placed in the lobby and must be admitted by a meeting organizer.

If you need unauthenticated users to bypass the lobby, or if you prefer that Florida Poly attendees wait in the lobby, this setting may be adjusted on a per-meeting basis by clicking the Meeting options link.
